Competition details
Once entered the Apprentice of the Year competition consists of three stages.
STAGE ONE:
Theory assessment:
All entrants undertake a theory assessment based on Apprenticeship modules undertaken in the 1st – 3rd Year of the Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship. Whilst 1st year apprentices might feel that this will exclude them from progressing, we have had several first years who have made it two the second stage and those that haven’t have found the experience a great introduction to the competition and a good preparation for following years.
When: Saturday 26 September 2020
Where: Boardroom, 108 Caledonian Avenue MAYLANDS
Time: 10.00am – 11.00am (1 Hour)
The top 10 successful entrants go through to the second stage.
STAGE TWO:
A practical skills competition conducted over 1 full day, where entrants are given a project to demonstrate their skills and ability. Full details of the project and competition requirements are distributed to the entrants 2 weeks prior to competition day.
When: Thursday 8 October 2020 (All Day)
Where: MPA Skills Training Campus, 108 Caledonian Avenue MAYLANDS
Time: Details provided in competition pack.
STAGE THREE:
Awards for Excellence Presentation Night. The 9 Finalists attend the presentation night for the announcement of the winner and subsequent places of the Apprentice of the Year competition.
